Why do HCl, `HNO_3` , etc. show acidic characters in aqueous solutions while solutions of compounds like alcohol and glucose do not show acidic character ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

HCl, `HNO_3` , etc. show acidic characters in aqueous solutions, because they give `H_3O^+` ions in aq. solution. Whereas the solutions of compounds like alcohol and glucose do not show acidic character because they do not give `H_3O^+` ions, in aq.solution.
