Find out the velocity of Block D

Text Solution

From `2^(nd)` format of constrained motion
`V_(E) = (V_A + V_B)/(2)`
`V_(E) = (2- 5)/2 = -3//2`
(If upward direction is taken to be +ve)
`V_(E ) = -3//2 m//s`
Now `(V_E +V_F)/2 = 7 m//s implies 7 = (-3//2 + V_F)/(2)`
`implies 14 + 3//2 = V_(F) =V_(F) = 31/2`
Now `(V_C + V_D)/(2) = V_F implies (8 + V_D)/2 = 31/2 = V_(D)`
`=31 - 8`
`V_(D) = 23 m//s` (upward direction).
