How can the yield of the product be increased by changing the volume of the reaction system in the given reactions at constant temperature?
(1) `C(s)+H_(2)O(g)hArr CO(g)+H_(2)(g)`
(2) `2H_(2)(g)+O_(2)(g)hArr 2H_(2)O(l)`

(1) In this case, the volume increases in the reaction as written (since, `Deltan+1`). Thus, if the volume of the reaction system is increased at constant temperature, then equilibrium will shift to the right, and consequently the yields of the products will increase.
(2) In this case, the volume decreases in the reaction as written (since, `Deltan=-3`). thus, if the volume of the reaction system is decreased at constant temperature then equilibrium will shift to the right. as a result, the yield of product will increase.
