Out of NaCl and `BaCl_(2)` aqueous solutions which shows more elevation in boiling point and Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For Nacl
`NaCl (aq) to Na^(+) (aq) + Cl^(-1) (aq) , i = 2 ` `BaCl_(2) (aq) to Ba^(2+) (aq) + 2Cl^(-1) (aq) , i = 3`
Now `, Delta T_(b) = i xx K_(a) xx m`
For same molal concentration ,more i, more elevation in boiling point. Thus `BaCl_(2)` (aq) solution will show more elevation in boiling point
