Why helium and neon do not form compound...

Why helium and neon do not form compounds with florine?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Atomic size of He and Ne is very small and possese very high inoisation enthalpies emthalpies. Both do not have d-orbitals in their valence shells. Thas the paired electrons present in valence shell cannot be unpaired in absence of simgly occupied orbitals, no sharting is possinble with other atoms .Hence , no compounds are formed by he and Ne.
