The strings of a parachute can bear a maximum tension of `72 kg` wt . By what minimum acceleration can a person of 90 kg descend by means of this parachute ?

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`2.45 m//s^(2)` .

Here, `R = 72kg wt = 72 xx9.8 N`
`a = ?, m = 96 kg`
`m (g -a) = R = 72 xx9.8`
`g -a = (72 xx9.8)/(96) = (3)/(4) g`
`a = (1)/(4) g = (9.8)/(4) =2.45 m//s^(2)` .
