The correct Answer is:
1

An ideal solution of substance 1 and 2 is one in which both substances follow Raoult's law for all values of mole fractions. Practically ideal solution occur when the substance mixed are chemically similar so that the intermolecular forces between "1" and "2" molecules are similar to those between two "1" molecules or between two "2" molecules. According to Raoult's law
`P_(1)=P_(1)^(@)chi_(1)`
`P_(2)=P_(2)^(@)chi_(2)`
Both these equations correspond to straight line equation of the type, `y=mx`.
Total vapor pressure over an ideal solution equals the sum of the particle vapour pressures each is given by Raoult's law:
`P_("total")=P_(2)^(@)+(P_(1)^(@)-P_(2))chi_(1)`
or
`P_("total")=P_(1)^(@)+(P_(2)^(@)-P_(1))chi_(2)`
Both these equations correspond to straight line equation of the type, `y=mx+c`
