Write the direction cosines of the line ...

Write the direction cosines of the line `(x-2)/2=(2y-5)/(-3),\ z=2.`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We have given the equations of lines `(x-2)/2=(2y-5)/(-3),\ z=2`
It can be written as
`(x-2)/2=(y-5/2)/(-3/2)=(z-2)/0`
Now the direction ratios of given line are `4, -3, 0`
Hence, direction cosines of the line parallel to AB are proportional to
`4/(sqrt(4^2+(-3)^2+0^2)),-3/(sqrt(4^2+(-3)^2+0^2)),0/(sqrt(4^2+(-3)^2+0^2))`
`=4/5,-3/5,0`
