Verify division algorithm i.e. Dividend ...

Verify division algorithm i.e. Dividend = Divisor x Quotient + Remainder, in each of the following . Also write the quotient and remainder: `14 x^2+13 x-15` by `7x-4`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On dividing `14 x^2+13 x-15` by `7x-4`, we get
Quotient`=2x+3`
Remainder`=-3`
Now,
Dividend `=`Divisor`xx`Quotient`+`Remainder
`14 x^2+13 x-15=(7x-4)times(2x+3)+(-3)`
R.H.S`=14 x^2+13 x-15=(7x-4)times(2x+3)+(-3)`
R.H.S`=14x^2+21x-8x-12-3`
R.H.S`=14x^2+13x-15`
`therefore`L.H.S`=`R.H.S
Hence, Dividend `=`Divisor`xx`Quotient`+`Remainder is proved.
