Mention the difference in angular moment...

Mention the difference in angular momentum of the electron belonging to 3p and 4p-subshell.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In the case of p-orbitals, the value of azimuthal quantum number is 1. but the magnitude of angular momentum of an electron present in any subshell depends on the value of l. it is independent of the value of principal quantum number n.
Orbital angular momentum`=sqrt(l(l+1))xx(h)/(2pi)`
Thus there is no difference in angular momentum of the electrons belonging to 3p and 4-subshells.
