What will be the mass of an astronaut in...

What will be the mass of an astronaut in a space satellite if at earth's surface the astronaut weighs 250 N ? (Take `g = 10 ms^(-2)`)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In a satellite the astronaut feels weightlessness and therefore weight becomes zero but mass remains unchanged.
Therefore mass of astronaut can be calculated by using weight at the surface of the earth.
`:. mg = 250 N`
`rArr m = (250)/(10)`
`rArr m = 25 kg`.
