The following initial rate data were obtained at 300K for the reactions:
`2A + B to C +D`

Deducethe rate law.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On compairing (I) and (II), [B] remains constant. Since on making [A] twice, the reaction rate becomes four times.
`(2.4 xx 10^(-2)//6 xx 10^(-2)=4)`, the order with respect to A is 2.
On compairing (I) and (III), [A] remains constant. Since on making [B] twice, the reaction rate becomes twice `(12 xx 10^(-2)//6 xx 10^(-2)=2)`, the order with respect to B is 1.
`therefore` Rate equation is: `r=k[A]^(2)[B]`
