Explain the steps involved in Mushroom cultvation .

Explanation

Mushroom are the the fruiting body fungi. It has nutritive value, cahracteristic aroma and flavor .
Steps involved In mushroom cultivation:
(i) The straw used for composting should be ripe and golden - yellow in colour . It should be into 2-4 inches and property sterilized. (ii) The culture space should be clean and the vertilators and windows should be covered with fine wire meah to pevent the entry of flies and birds.
(iii) The culture should be sprayed with 0.1% Nuvan and 5% Formalin , two days prior to spawning and transferring to bags to cropping.
(iv) The spawn used for mushroom should be free form contaminations . Bags should be filled with 8 kg of wet straw.
(V) During spawning running tempereature and realtive humidity should be maintained 20@C to 30@C , 75 to 85% respectively .
(vi) Proper watering should be done when the growth covering are removed. There should not be dry patches on blocks . Excess watering must be avoided.
(vii) About 20cm gap should be manitained in between two bags or blocks.
Picking must be done as their caps become 10-12 cm by twisting.
(viii) Two kinds of musrooms are cultivated namely button and oyster.
