What are interferons ? How do interferons check infection of uninfected cells?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Interferons are antiviral proteins produced by cells when invaded by a virus. These are released from the infected and dying host cells. On reaching the nearly uninfected cells, interferons makes them resistant to the viral infection by the formation of certain proteins which prevent viral multiplication.
