Human corpse always floats on the surfac...

Human corpse always floats on the surface of water, but the head always stays within water, why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When the dead body decays its volume increases. Thus it becomes lighter than water and hence floats. However, the head being heavy, cannot displace water more than its weight and as such remains under water.
