A body starting from rest acclerates uniformly along a st. line , at the rate of `10 ms^(-2)` for 5 s`. It moves for `2 s` with uniform velocoty of `50 ms^(-1)`. The it retards uniformly and comes to rest in 3 s`. Draw velocity-time graph of the and find the total distance travelled by body.

Verified by Experts

Taking the motion of the body from `0 to 5` seconds ` we have
`u=0, v=? A=10 ms^(2) , t=5 s.
As, `v=u +at`
:. `u=0 +10 xx 5 =50 m//s`
The velcity-time graph of the motion to the body is as shown in Fig. 2 (b) .15.
.
Total distance travelled by body during motion
=area of traphizium `OABC`
`1/2 (OC+AB) xx AA_(1)`
`1/2 (10 +2) xx 50 =300 m`.

A body starts from rest and accelerates uniformly at 5m//s^(2) for 7 seconds, along a straight line, it then starts decelerating at a rate of 2m//s^(2) for the next 5 seconds, moves uniformly with a velocity of 25m/s for the next 2 seconds and then retards again and comes to rest in another 3 seconds. (i) Plot the velocity versus time graph for the body. (ii) Calculate the total distance travelled by the body with the help of the graph.

It then moves with a uniform veocit and it is finally brought to rest in 50 m with a constant retardation.
