(i) Complete the following reaction and suggest a suitable mechanism for the reaction : `CH_3CH_2OHoverset(H^+,443K)to`
(ii) Why ortho-Nitrophenil is steam volatile while para-Nitrophenil is less volatile ?

Verified by Experts

(i) `overset("Mechanism")(CH_3CH_2OH)overset(H^+,443k)overset CH_2=CH_2`
(a)
(ii) Ortho Nitrophenol is steam volatile while para- nitrophenol is less volatile because in ortho-nitrophenol, due to intra- moleucular hydrogen bonding chelation is occur which is more stable where as para nitrophenol, two moelcules are bonded with inter molecular hydrogen bending. Hence more energy is required to break the bond in para- nitrophenol due to that it is less steam volatile where as in ortho-compound molecules are not bonded so less energy is required to form steam.
