Explain, why sodium metal can't be obtained by the electrolysis of aqueous NaCl solution.

Sodium is very reactive metal. On electrolysis , aqueous solution of sodium chloride produce at the cathode which reacts with water to form dihydrogen gas and NaOH in solution.
