2.0CBSE Class 9 Exam Pattern 2024-25

Class 9 exam is divided into two assessments namely Internal Assessment and Annual Examination for the term. To be promoted to the next class, a student needs to score at least 33 marks out of 100 or D grade in every subject.

(A) Internal Assessment (20 marks) 

  • Periodic Assessment (5 marks): There are three periodic tests, and the final result will be the average of the best two tests.
  • Multiple Assessment (5 marks): Diverse assessments such as short tests, oral tests, quizzes, projects, etc.; rubrics will be provided.
  • Portfolio (5 marks): This includes classwork (activities/assignments) reflections, narrations, journals etc.
  • Subject Enrichment Activities (5 marks): This section includes activities that provide an in-depth understanding of the subject matter and motivate students to study it further. 

(B) Annual Examination (80 marks):

  • Short answer questions
  • Long answer questions

Distribution: It is a theory paper which typically covers the entire syllabus, with a mix of questions focusing on knowledge, application, and analytical skills.
