JEE Advanced Maths Syllabus: Chapter-wise Topics

The JEE Advanced Mathematics syllabus covers 7 core units: Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry (2D & 3D), Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Vectors, and Statistics & Probability. Mathematics carries approximately 33% of total JEE Advanced marks and is tested across both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Unlike JEE Main, JEE Advanced Maths demands multi-concept reasoning — single problems frequently combine Calculus, Algebra, and Geometry simultaneously. Calculus (Differential + Integral) and Algebra together account for nearly 55–60% of Maths marks in most years.

2.0Which Books and Materials Should JEE Main 2026 Aspirants Use?

For effective JEE Main 2026 preparation, aspirants should begin with NCERT textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as they form the foundation of the syllabus and are especially important for Chemistry. After completing NCERT, candidates can use standard reference books such as H.C. Verma for Physics, R.D. Sharma or Cengage Mathematics for Maths, and O.P. Tandon or M.S. Chouhan for Chemistry. Regular practice through previous years’ JEE Main question papers, mock tests, and chapter-wise question banks is equally important.

3.0How to Prepare for JEE Advanced Maths: Expert Strategies

  1. Prioritise Calculus First
Given it carries the highest weightage, spend the first 30–35% of your preparation time on calculus — both differential and integral. Master definite integrals, area under curves, and maxima-minima before moving on.
  2. Build Concept Maps for Algebra
Topics like complex numbers, matrices, and probability are interconnected. Create mind maps that link theorems to applications. This boosts both retention and problem-solving speed.
  3. Practice JEE Advanced PYQs Topic-Wise
Previous Year Questions (PYQs) from 2010–2024 are the single most effective tool. JEE Advanced repeats concepts (not questions), and patterns are very detectable with careful PYQ analysis.
  4. Focus on Multi-Step Problems
JEE Advanced rarely tests a single concept in isolation. Every question typically combines 2–3 ideas. Practice problems from Arihant, ML Khanna, and Cengage that require multi-step reasoning.
  5. Revision Strategy (40-Day Plan)
Week 1–2: Calculus deep dive (differentiation + integration)
Week 3: Algebra (complex numbers, matrices, probability)
Week 4: Coordinate geometry + vectors
Week 5: Trigonometry + revision of weak areas
Week 6: Full-length mock tests + error analysis
