NEET Exam Pattern 2026

The NEET exam pattern for 2026, which will be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be crucial for candidates preparing for the examination. As per the last year exam pattern, there will be 180 compulsory questions (45 questions each in Physics and Chemistry and 90 in Biology), which the candidates will attempt in 180 minutes (3 hours). 2.0What is the Pattern of the NEET 2026 Exam?

Paper pattern for the NEET exam comprises three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. There will be 180 compulsory questions (45 questions each in Physics and Chemistry and 90 in Biology), which the candidates will attempt in 180 minutes (3 hours).

4.0NEET Exam Marking Scheme

Prospective NEET 2026 candidates will be able to estimate their exam scores by using the official answer key provided by NTA. To do this, it will be important to understand how NTA's scoring system works. Here's a simplified breakdown:

  • Each question is worth 4 marks.
  • Choosing the correct or most suitable answer: +4 marks.
  • Marking an incorrect option: -1 mark.
  •  Leaving a question unanswered: 0 marks.
  • When multiple options are correct, +4 marks are awarded to those who choose any of the correct options.
  •  If all options are correct, +4 marks are given to all who attempt the question.
  • If none of the options is correct, a question is wrong, or it's dropped, all candidates receive +4 marks, regardless of whether they attempted the question.

5.0NEET (UG) Languages/Medium of Exam

NEET 2026 exam will be available in 13 different languages, depending on the exam center you pick.

Here are some important things to keep in mind about your language choice:

  • Candidates can pick their question paper language from the following options: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, or Punjabi.
  • The choice of language is made during the form-filling process and cannot be changed later.
  • Those selecting English will get an English test booklet.
  • Hindi language choosers will receive a bilingual test booklet in Hindi and English.
  • Candidates opting for vernacular languages will receive a bilingual test booklet in their chosen language and English.
  • If there's any uncertainty in the translation of a question, the English version will be regarded as the ultimate reference.

Important Points to Remember while choosing the NEET 2026 Medium:

  • Language once chosen for NEET 2026 cannot be changed later. The candidates can choose the medium of the question paper in their application form.
  • Candidates with the preferred medium as English will be provided with the question paper in English medium ONLY.
  • Candidates opting for any other medium will be provided with a bilingual question paper in their chosen language and English.
  • In case of any doubt/error/ambiguity in any language, the English version of the question paper will be considered final and correct.
