In the eperiment for the determinetion of the speed of sound in air using the resonance column method, the length of the air column that resonates in the fundamental mode, with a tuning fork is `0.1m`. When this length is changed to `0.35m`, the same tuning fork resonates with the first overone. calculate the end correction.

A

`0.012m`

B

`0.025m`

C

`0.05m`

D

`0.024m`

The correct Answer is:
B

(b) `l_(1) + x = (lambda)/4)` or `lambda = 4(l_(1) + x)`
`(l_(2) + x) = (3lambda)/(4)` or `lambda = (4)/(3)(l_(2) + x)`
:. `v_(1) = (v)/(lambda_(1)) = (v)/(4(l_(1) + x)` :. ` v_(2) = (v)/(lambda_(2)) = (v)/(4(l_(2) + x)`
Given `v_(1) = v_(2)`
or, `(v)/(4(l_(1) + x)) =(3v)/(4(l_(2) + x))` or, `x = 0.025 m`

What are the conditions for resonance of air column with a tuning fork?

The end correction of a resonance column in resonance tube experiment is 0.5 cm. If the shortest length resonating with a tuning fork is 16 cm, then the next resonating length will be

The end correction of a resonance column is 2.0 cm. If the shortest length resonating with the tuning fork is 20.0 cm , the next resonating length will be

A tuning fork is in resonance with a closed pipe. But the same tuning fork cannot be in resonance with an open pipe of same length. Why ?

The end correction ( e) is (l_(1) = length of air column at first resonance and l_(2) is length of air column at second resonance).

In resonance tube experiment, first resonance occurs for the length of air - column equal to 25 cm with a tuning fork of frequency 340 Hz. If the length of the air column is decreased by 1cm , the frequency of beats will be

The end correction of a resonance colume is 1.0 cm. If the shortest length resonating with the tuning fork is 15.0 cm the next resonating length will be
