The MSBSHSE was formed under the Maharashtra Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Boards Act of 1965, and formally started functioning from January 1, 1966.
The board was created to bring standard rules for secondary (10th) and higher secondary (12th) and uniformity in education across the state of Maharashtra. Over time it has grown to cover many schools and helped students finish their Class 10 and Class 12 exams smoothly.
