2.0History & Background

The BSEB was formed to streamline and manage the board‐level examinations for secondary (Class 10) and senior secondary (Class 12) education in Bihar. Before this, various boards or institutions administered school exams, but to bring uniformity and standardisation across the state, the Board was established under the 1952 Act. Today, BSEB is responsible for setting the syllabus, issuing textbooks, organising examinations, and declaring results for all schools affiliated with it across Bihar.

3.0Latest Updates / Notifications from BSEB

  • Registration for the 2025 BSEB Matric (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) exams begins on September 11, 2024.
  • The 2025 exam date sheet: For Matric (Class 10) from February 17 to 25, and for Inter (Class 12) from February 1 to 15.
  • BSEB conducts exams in two shifts (morning/afternoon) in many cases.

  • They prescribe the curriculum and syllabus for secondary and senior secondary levels.
  • The board conducts the board examinations for Class 10 (Matric) and Class 12 (Intermediate).

  • Supplementary/Improvement Exams: These exams are held for students who did not pass in the main exam. This exam is usually conducted in May/June.

  • The Board issues the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 so that students know which topics to study. For Class 10 (Matric), you will study languages (first & second), Mathematics, Science, Social Science and an optional subject.

9.0Eligibility & Application Process

  • Regular students: If you are enrolled in a school affiliated to BSEB, your school will register you for the board exam when you reach Class 10 or Class 12.
  • Private / ex-school candidates: If you are not studying in a regular school or have left school and wish to appear, you must apply through the board’s guidelines (check the official site for forms, fees and deadlines).
  • Make sure your details (name, roll number, class, medium) are correct. Submit the form and fees on time.
  • Check with your school for the exact registration process for your session.

Students can directly take admission from any school in the state affiliated with the board during the start of the academic year and their enrolment will be validated directly.
