The equation of simple harmonic progress...

The equation of simple harmonic progressive wave is given by `Y=0.05 sin pi[20t-(x)/(6)]`, where all quantities are is S.I. units. Calculate the displacement of a particle at 5 m from origin and at the instant 0.1 second.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given : x = 5 m, t = 0.1 sec.
Equation of progressive wave,
`Y=0.05sinpi[20t-(x)/(6)]`
`:.` Displacement, `Y=0.05sinpi(20xx0.1-(5)/(6))`
`implies" "=0.05sin pi(2-0.833)`
`implies" "=-0.025" m."`
