What is a Polaroid ? State its two uses.

A polarid is a synthetic dichroic sheet that can polarise a transmitted beam of normal light becaused it is composed of long parallel molecules. It only transmits planepolarised light if these moleculaes are parabllel to the plane of polarisation. It is often used in sunglasses to eliminatte glare and in 3-D motion pictures i.e. holography.
