Derive the relation between elevation ...

Derive the relation between elevation of boiling point and molar mass of the solute .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`Delta T_(b) prop m`
`therefore Delta T_(b) =K_(b)m`
where `Delta T_(b)` = elevation of boiling point
m = molality
`K_(b)` = boiling point elevation constant
Therefore, molality (m) of solution is
`m=(W_(2)xx1000)/(W_(1)xxM_(2))`
`therefore Delta T_(b)=K_(b)xx(W_(2)xx1000)/(W_(1)M_(2))`
where `W_(2)` = Mass of solute in gram
`W_(1)` = Mass of solvent in gram
`M_(2)` = Molar mass of solute.
