How is Benzonitrile converted to Benzophenone?

Benzonitrile can be hydrolysed to benzoic acid which is further converted to benzene. Now, benzene reacts with benzoyl chloride which yields benzophenone.
This reaction is called as Friedel-Crafts Acylation.
