Phenol on reaction with bromine in `CS_(2)` at low temperature gives a mixture of o - bromophenol and p - bromophenol ( major product ).

(b) Phenol reacts with conc. Sulphuric acid at room temperature , forming o - phenol sulphonic acid as a major product .
