Can copper sulphate solution be stored in an iron vessel ? Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Copper sulphate solution cannot be stored in an iron vessel. This is because iron is more reactive than copper and so placed above copper in reactivity series of metal. Thus, iron will displace copper from its salt and instead form ferrous sulphate the copper metal deposited as reddish brown residue.
