The relative proportion of individuals of various age group in the population is called age structure of the population
The population is divided in three age group:
(i) Young (0-14 years ) Pre-reproduction age group
(ii) Adult ( 15- 59 years ) Reproductive age group
(iii) Old (60 years and above )Post-reproductive age group
The distribusion of these age group determine the trend of population : Growing population: population having larger number of individual of the prerproductive age group shows a very rapid rate.
