सरल रेखा ` y = 3` तथा परवलय `x^(2) = 4y` से घिरे क्षेत्र का क्षेत्रफल निकालें ।

परवलय का समीकरण हैं, `x^(2) = 4y`
सरल रेखा OB का समीकरण है, y = x
(1) में y = x रखने पर हमें मिलता है, `x^(2) = 4x`
या , `x (x - 4) = 0 :. X = 0, 4`
`:.` रेखा y = x परवलय को दो बिंदुओं O तथा B पर काटताहै। O का x -नियामक 0 है तथा B का x - नियामक 4 है।
अब क्षेत्रफल `OABCO = int_(0)^(4) (y_(1) - y_(2)) dx = dx = int_(0)^(4) (x - (x^(2))/(4)) dx` [(1) तथा (2) से ]
`= [(x^(2))/(2) - (x^(3))/(12)]_(0)^(4) = [(16)/(2) - (64)/(12)] = (8)/(3)` वर्ग इकाई
