Form the differential equation represent...

Form the differential equation representing the parabolas having vertex at the origin and axis along positive direction of x-axis.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Equation of the parabola having vertex at the origin and axis along positive direction of x-axis will be,
`y^2 = 4ax->(1)`
Differentiating this equation w.r.t. `x`,
`=>2y dy/dx = 4a`
`=>dy/dx = (2a)/y->(2)`
Now, from (1),
`y^2/x = 4a => 2a = y^2/(2x)`
Putting value of `2a` in (2),
...
