A mixture contains 1 mole of helium (Cp ...

A mixture contains `1` mole of helium `(C_p = 2.5 R, C_v= 1.5 R. )` and `1` mole of hydrogen `(C_p = 3.5 R, C_v = 2.5 R, )` . Calculate the values of `C_p , C_v and gamma` for the mixture.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C

`C_p = (n_1 C_(p 1) +n_2 C_(p 2))/(n_1 + n_2`
= `(2.5 R + 3.5 R)/(1 + 1) = 3 R`
`C_V = (n_1 C_(V 1) + n_2 C_(V 2))/(n_1 + n_2)`
= `(1.5 R + 2.5 R)/(2) = 2 R`
`gamma = (C_p)/(C_V) = 3/2 = 1.5`.
