We know that ,
` i_e = i_b + i_c `
`:. Delta i_e = Deltai_(b)+Delta i_c `
or , `Delta i_b = Delta i_e - Delta i_c `
Substituting the given values of the question ,
` Delta i_b = (8.0 - 7.9) mA = 0.1 mA `
Hence , a change of 0.1 mA in the base current is required to have a change of 7.9 mA in the collector current .
Further , ` alpha = i_c / i_e or (Delta i_c )/ (Delta i_e) = 7.9 / 8.0 `
` = 0.99 `
` beta = i_c / i_b or (Delta i_c )/( Delta i_b )= 7.9 / 0.1 `
` = 79 `
