The correct Answer is:
A

Both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.
Assertion : Goggles have zero power. True
The focal length is given by `(1)/(f)=(mu-1)((1)/(R_(1))-(1)/(R_(2)))`. For goggle lenses, both sides are curved the same, `(1)/(f)=0` i.e., power is zero. Reason is also true and it is the explanation for the assertion.

STATEMENT-1: A lens has two principal focal lengths which may be different in magnitude. STATEMENT-2: The distance of both principal focus from optical centre of lens depend on the two radii of curvature of the lens. Distance of both principal focus from optical centre a lens are same only if radii of curvature of both sides of lens are same

Assertion : The focal length of an equiconvex lens placed in air to radius of curvature of either face. Reason : For an equiconvex lens radius of curvature of both the faces is same.

The adjacent figure shows a thin plano-convex lens of refractive index mu_1 and a thin plano-concave lens of refractive index mu_2 , both having same radius of curvature R of their curved surfaces. The thin lens of refractive index mu_3 has radius of curvature R of both its surfaces. This lens is so placed in between the plano-convex and plano-concave lenses that the plane surfaces are parallel to each other. The focal length of the combination is

A double convex lens has power P and same radii of curvature R of both the surfaces. The radius of carvature of a surface of plano-convex lens made of the same meterial with power 1.5 P is :

Assertion : If radius of curvature of mirror is doubled, focal length is halved. Reason : Radius of curvature =2 times the focal lenghts

Assertion : The resolving power of a telescope is more if the diameter of the objective lens is more. Reason : Objective lens of large diameter collectd more light.

Assertion : The resolving power of a telescope is more if the diameter of the objective lens is more. Reason : Objective lens of large diameter collects more light.

Assertion:- The image focus ( 2^(nd) focus) and the object focus ( 1^(st) focus) are on the oppostie side of the biconvex or biconcave lens. Reason:- The radii of curvature of a biconvex lens and biconcave lens are on the opposite side of the lens.
