In an isobaric process of an ideal gas. The ratio of heat supplied annd work done by the system `[i.e.,((Q)/(W))]` is

A

`(gamma-1)/(gamma)`

B

`gamma`

C

`(gamma)/(gamma-1)`

D

`1`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

From ideal gas equation
`pV=nRT` . . . (i)
where, p is pressure, V the volume, R the gas constant, T the absolute temperature.
For isobaric process.
`Q=nC_(p)DeltaT` . . (ii)
`W=pDeltaV`
Where, `C_p` is specific heat at constant pressure.
From eqs. (i), (ii) and (iii), we get
`(Q)/(W)=(nC_(p)DeltaT)/(nRDeltaT)`
`=(C_p)/(R)`
`=(gamma)/(gamma-1)`
