At a certain temperature , `K_(p)` for dissociation of solid `CaCO_(3)` is `4xx10^(-2)` atm and for the reaction, `C(s)+CO_(2) hArr 2CO` is `2.0` atm, respectively. Calculate the pressure of CO at this temperature when solid `C, CaO, CaCO_(3)` are mixed and allowed to attain equilibrium.

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C

Equilibrium I
`CaCO_(3)(s) hArr CaO(s)+CO_(2)(g)`
Given `K_(P)=4xx10^(-2)=P'_(CO_(2))`
Equilibrium II
Also `C(s)+CO_(2)(g) hArr 2CO(g)`
`K_(P)=((P_(CO))^(2))/(P'_(CO_(2)))=2.0`
Now both are at equilibrium and thus `P'_(CO_(2))=4xx10^(-2)`
which should remain constant, thus
`2.0=((P'_(CO))^(2))/(4xx10^(-2))`
or `P'_(CO)=sqrt(4xx10^(-2)xx2)=0.28`
