A 0.01M aqueous solution of weak acid HA...

A `0.01M` aqueous solution of weak acid `HA` has an osotic pressure `0.293atm` at `25^(@)C`. Another `0.01M` aqueous solution of other weak acid `HB` has an osmotic pressure of `0.345 atm` under the same conditions. Calculate equilibrium constants of two acids for their dissociation.

`{:(HA,hArr,H^(o+),+,A^(Theta)),(1,,0,,0),(1-alpha,,alpha,,alpha):}`
`:. piV = "in" RT (1+ alpha) or i= (pi xxV)/(nRT) (I = 1 + alpha)`
`(i =` Vant Hoff factor) `pi =` osmatic pressure]
`:. 1 + alpha = (0.293)/(0.01 xx 0.0821 xx 298) ((n)/(V) = 0.01)`
`alpha = 1.97 - 1 = 0.197`
`:. K_(a)` for `HA = (Ca^(2))/((1-a)) = (0.01 xx (0.197)^(2))/((1-0.197)) = 4.83 xx 10^(-4)`
Similarly, `K_(a)` for `HB = 2.85 xx 10^(-3)`
