The `pH` of blood is maintained by the balance between `H_(2)CO_(3)` and `NaHCO_(3)`. If the amount of `CO_(2)` in the blood is increased, how will it effect the `pH` of blood`?

A

`pH` will remain same.

B

`pH` wil be `7`

C

`pH` will increases.

D

`pH` will decrease.

The correct Answer is:
A

`H_(2)O + CO_(2) hArr H^(o+) + HCO_(3)^(Theta)`
If `CO_(2)` is increased, according to Le Chatelier's principle, `[H^(o+)]` will increase, thereby `pH` wll decrease.
Body very minutely maintains `pH` of the blood. The lungs will work faster so as to exhale the excess of `CO_(2)` and maintains its `pH` agains at `7.4`.
