Give the structural formula of a cyclic ...

Give the structural formula of a cyclic alkyne with the lowest number of `C` atoms and showing:
a. Both geometrical and optical isomerisms.
b. Geometrical isomerism with meso stereoisomers.

Text Solution

a. For the lowest number of `C` atoms, take disubstituted cyclopropance ring in which one group is `(HC-=C)` (ethynyl) and the other is `(-Me)` group.

b. For the lowest number of `C` atoms, take trisubstituted cyclopropance ring with one `(CH-=C)` ethyne group and two `(-Me)` groups, so that meso compound can be obtained to have the plane of symmertry in the molecule.
