Find the value of the discriminant `( Delta ) ` for the quadratic equation `x^(2) ++ 7x+ 6 =0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
The value of the discriminent is 25.

`x^(2) + 7x+ 6 =0`
Comparing with `ax^(2) + bx + c = 0 `
`a=1,b=7,c=6`
The discriminant `( Delta ) = b^(2) - 4ac`
`= ( 7)^(2) - 4(1) (6) = 49 - 24 = 25 `
`:. Delta = 25`
