The height of a triee increases by 20% per annum. If the present height of the tree be 28.8 metres, then what was the height of the tree before 2 years?

Let the height of the tree was x metres before 2 years.
`:.` The present height of the tree `=x(1+20/100)^(2)` metres.
`x xx(6/5)^(2)` metres`=(36x)/25` metres.
As per questionn `(36x)/25=28.8`
or `x=(28.8xx25)/36=20`.
Hence the heights of the tree was 20 metres befoe 2 years.
