In a partnership business, A and B have invested Rs. 600 and Rs. 750 respectively. If the loss after 1 year be Rs. 72, then find the loss of each of them.

The proportion of capitals of A and B is `600:750=4:5`
`:.` part of A's loss `=4/(4+5)=4/9`
and part of B's loss `=5/(4+5)=5/9`
so that A's share of loss `=Rs. 72xx4/9=Rs. 32`
and B's share of loss `=Rs. 72xx5/9=Rs. 40`
Hence share of A's and B's loss are Rs. 32 and Rs. 40 respectively.
