Prove that sec^(2)12^(@)-(1)/(tan^(2)78^...

Prove that `sec^(2)12^(@)-(1)/(tan^(2)78^(@))=1`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`sec^(2)12^(@)-(1)/(tan^(2)78^(@))=1`
`=sec^(2)12^(@)-cot^(2)78^(@)=sec^(2)12^(@)-cot^(2)(90^(@)-12^(@))`
`=sec^(2)12^(@)-tan^(2)12^(@)=1`.
Hence `sec^(2)=12^(@)-tan^(2)12^(@)=1.`
