A bob of weight `3N` is in equilibrium under the action of two string 1 and 2 (figure) . Find the tension forces in the string.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`vec(F)_(1)+vec(F)_(2)+vec(F)_(3)=0`
According to Lami's theorem,
`F_(1)/(sin90^(@))=F_(2)/(sin150^(@))=F_(3)/(sin120^(@))`
or `F_(1)=F_(2)/(1//2)=3/(sqrt(3)//2)=2sqrt(3)N`
and `F_(2)=sqrt(3)N`
