Two persons of equal weight are running at speeds of `4ms^-1` and `5ms^-1`, respectively. Both increase their speeds by `1ms^-1` in a time span of `10s`. Who does more work? Who develops more power?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The kinetic energy is dependent on the square of the velocity, and work done is equal to the change in kinetic energy. Now, as the change in the kinetic energy of the second person is more than the first person, he does more work. As both of them increase theire speeds in the same interval of time, the second person does more work in the same interval of time. Hence, the second person has more power.
