A collar B of mass `2kg` is constrained to move along a horizontal smooth and fixed circular track of radius `5m`. The spring lying in the plane of the circular track and having spring constant `200Nm^-1` is underformed when the collar is at A. If the collar starts from rest at B, the normal reaction exerted by the track on the collar when it passes through A is

A

(a) `360N`

B

(b) `720N`

C

(c) `1440N`

D

(d) `2880N`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

Initial extension will be equal to `6m`.
Initial energy `=1/2(200)(6)^2=3600J`
Reaching A, we get `1/2mv^2=3600J`
`mv^2=7200J`
From FBD at A, we get `N=(mv^2)/(R)=7200/5=1440N`

A small collar of mass m = 100 g slides over the surface of a horizontal circular rod of radius R = 0.3 m. The coefficient of friction between the rod and the collar is mu = 0.8 . Find the angle made with vertical by the force applied by the rod on the collar when speed of the collar is V = 2 m/s.

A small collar of mass m is given an intial velocity of magnitude v_(0) on the horizontal circular track fabricated from a slender rod. If the coefficient of kinetic friction is mu_(K) , determine the distance travelled before the collar comes to rest. (Recognize that the friction force depends on the net normal force).

A 40 g mas is released from rest at a height of 4.9 m n the curved track. Find the maximumcompression of the spring.

A small block of mass m, can move without friction on the outside of a fixed vertical circular track of radiusR. The block is attached to a spring of natural length R//2 and spring constant K. The other end of spring is connected to a point at height R//2 directly above the centre of track. If the block is released from rest when the spring is in horizontal state (see figure) then at that moment,
