The graph between time period (T) and le...

The graph between time period (`T`) and length (`l`) of a simple pendulum is

A

straight line

B

curve

C

ellipse

D

parabola

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The time period of a simple pendulum is,

`T = 2pi sqrt((l)/(g))`
Here, l is the length of the pendulum.
On squaring both sides `T^(2)=(4 pi^(2)l)/(g) rArr T^(2) prop l`
So, the graph between time period T and length l of the pendulum is a parabola.
