A battery consists of a variable number ...

A battery consists of a variable number `n` of identical cells having internal resistance connected in series. The terminals of the battery are short circuited and the current `I` measured. Which one of the graph below shows the correct relationship between `I` and `n`?

A

B

C

D

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

For a two cell battery, `l =(2E)/(2r)=(E )/(r )`
Similarly, for a n cell battery, `l = (nE)/(nr)=(E )/(r )`
So, current in the circuit does not depend on number of cells in the battery.
Hence, the correct graph will be (c ).
